Sonchiriya Box Office Collection Day 1: Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar’s film is off to a dull start

Starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar, Sonchiriya released today along with Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aaryan’s Luka Chuppi. Both films belong to different genres. Sonchiriya is based on the story of dacoits of Chambal and has a rustic appeal about it. The film’s trailer showed some of the most critically acclaimed actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Ashutosh Rana and more in a never before seen avatar. Sushant and Bhumi both have essayed the role of dacoits in the film and their look surely caused a stir online.
Today, the film hit the screens and we got in touch with Film and Trade Analyst, Girish Johar to know the first day’s box office numbers of Sushant and Bhumi’s film. As per Girish, the film’s first day box office occupancy was capped between 10 to 15 % from 700 odd screens all over the nation. Hence, Sonchiriya is off to a dull start. Helmed by Abhishek Chaubey, Sonchiriya’s story revolves around a bunch of dacoits who are being chased by the police including an officer, Ashutosh Rana. 
Sonchiriya’s box office numbers of day 1 are based on the initial shows of the movie and will see a change as the day progresses. The initial reviews by Bollywood stars who saw Sonchiriya at the special screening have been good. It will be interesting to see how the film does vis-a-vis Luka Chuppi which has been generating a lot of buzz among the youth. This Friday's clash involves Kartik and Kriti’s Luka Chuppi and Bhumi and Sushant’s Sonchiriya. Post the first day, both the films will depend on word of mouth and how the initial reviews turn out to be.
