You heard that right! The upcoming film, Saala Khadoos, is based on true life incidents. The film stars R Madhavan as a badass coach who relentlessly pushes his protege, played by real-life boxer Ritika Singh, to overcome obstacles and achieve her boxing goals. The film is inspired by a real-life coach named Mohammed Ali Qamar from Kolkata. In the year 2002, he was the first Indian to win a gold medal in boxing at the Commonwealth Games.  Qamar is currently running a Women's Boxing Camp and devoting his time in coaching Indian boxers who are showing tremendous potential but are facing financial setbacks.

Gaining insights from the real-life story, the boxers and referees in the film are professionals in their respective line of work in the sport.

Produced by Rajkumar Hirani Films, the film is directed by Sudha Kongara and will release on January 29.

Packs a true punch!
