EXCLUSIVE: Bhumi Pednekar to romance Varun Dhawan in Shashank Khaitan's next?
Yet another fresh pairing - of Bhumi Pednekar and Varun Dhawan - is in the offing right now. As per our sources, the two powerful performers will mostly team up for Shashank's next entertainer.
Shashank Khaitan has delivered a few big hits with Varun Dhawan already. The director-actor duo has turned out to be one of the most commercially successful pairings in Bollywood in the last few years. Shashank has also revealed that they are teaming up yet again for another project.
A source tells us that the heroine has also been almost finalised. A source tells us, "Shashank wanted a brilliant actor who can perform exceedingly well in his movie. He also wanted someone who has a hinterland connect and hence decided to offer the film to Bhumi. It's a commercial entertainer and Bhumi has also liked the whole concept of the film. But she's yet to sign on the dotted line. They plan to roll the film around the second half of 2020." This will also be the first time Bhumi and Varun will be paired on screen.
Although the filmmaker was initially planning a film called Rannbhoomi and then, an action spy espionage thriller, now we can confirm that the film he's planning with VD is something both specialise in. "It's in the same space as a Dulhania franchise. It has the same setting and milieu and both Varun and Bhumi are perfect for the roles. It's yet another masala entertainer that will have the trademark Shashank Khaitan and Varun Dhawan stamp all over it." 
Meanwhile, Varun will wrap work on his dad David Dhawan's film Coolie No.1 remake, and will begin shoot for Sriram Raghavan's Ekkis, which is a biopic on martyr Arun Khetarpal. Bhumi, on the other hand, is gearing up for the release of Pati, Patni Aur Woh, Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare and Bhoot. She also begins shoot for Karan Johar's Takht next February onwards.
