Veteran actor and director Vijaya Nirmala left for heavenly abode today in Hyderabad. The veteran actress breathed her last in Continental Hospitals in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Vijaya Nirmala was 73. Vijaya Nirmala directed 44 films in Telugu that made her enter Guinness book of world records. The actress made her way to film industry at the age of seven with a Tamil movie Matsyarekha. Superstar Mahesh Babu along with his wife Namrata Shirodkar and father Krishna paid their last respects at her residence in Nanakramguda today. Reportedly, the final rites will be held tomorrow.

Vijaya Nirmala is the only female directors to have directed legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan. The actress is survived by her son Naresh and husband Krishna. Krishna and Vijaya Nirmala have worked together in more than 50 films. Vijaya went on to appear in over 200 films in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Meanwhile, celebrities from the South Indian Film industry and fans have been expressing grief over the death of the legendary actress. RRR star Jr NTR, Sudheer Babu, actor Nithiin, Allari Naresh, Manoj Manchu, Kajal Aggarwal among others have offered their condolences on Twitter.

Kajal tweeted, "Sad to hear about the sudden demise of Vijaya Nirmala garu. Strength and condolences to the family. #RIPVijayaNirmalaGaru."

RRR star Jr NTR also tweeted, "Vijaya Nirmala Garu was a pioneering filmmaker whose life is an inspiration for many. Extremely saddened to hear the news. Extending my deepest condolences to her family."
