EXCLUSIVE: Mohsin Khan: I feel privileged that I got the opportunity to share screen with Shah Rukh Khan
Mohsin Khan gets candid about Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai completes 2500 episodes and their most recent Greek schedule.
Mohsin Khan is currently riding high on success as his show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has completed 2500 episodes recently. Mohsin as Karthik has won several hearts and his onscreen chemistry with Shivangi Joshi has been the talk of the show.
Recently, we got in touch with the handsome actor who has even made his debut on the Most Sexiest Asian Men list taking the 17th spot.
Amidst his hectic schedule, we asked Mohsin about the USP of the show, his character and their most recent Greek schedule.
Here' an excerpt from the interview:
YRKKH is the first show in Indian history to reach 2500 episodes. How does it feel? Who do you think is the key driver for the show?
Firstly, three cheers to the show, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, which has completed 2500 episodes. It is a huge achievement for everyone, for the entire team who literally works like a machine. Shivangi and I always say that we are a small part of this machine. We are just a mere nut and bolt of a very big machine which has been working successfully for the past 9 years. The way the show has been able to keep the audience hooked through its plot is remarkable. It is all because of audience's loyalty, love and support.
The upcoming Greece track is much talked about. Your experience shooting there?
It was once in a lifetime experience. It was mine and Shivangi's first time in Greece. It was a different experience because we weren't playing Naira and Karthik after 450 episodes. We indulged in a role play and pretended to meet for the first time. We did a proper Greek wedding there according to their local traditions. Everything was extremely new to us.
You have been a loyal SRK fan. How was your experience shooting in Santorini island for a song which is best remembered for a song featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji?
I feel fortunate that I have been given the opportunity to live my dreams. I have always been an SRK fan. I have seen all his movies and have seen Fauji on repeat. To go to Greece and shoot in the location where Tauba song was shot was a dream, it was our tribute to the legend. Along with that, we also have a shot with Shah Rukh Khan during the show. We interacted with him then too. I feel extremely privileged and honored that I got this opportunity.
One funny/wacky quirky incident you would like to share from your Greece shoot?
When we were shooting for the marriage in Greece, locals had gathered to see it. Among them was a kid who resembled me a lot from my childhood. So, the crew was making fun of me there. It was fun having kids around.
You and Naira joined the cast midways but have gone on to become the soul of the show. Did you expect such a massive response?
I truly believe that the soul of the show lies in the Indian customs and traditions. It always carries a beautiful love story synced in between family drama. The soul of the show is still the same. We work as a team to keep that soul alive. Personally, I did not expect such a massive response. I had not imagined the kind of response the show has got. The love and support that we get for the show is very overwhelming. You feel privileged and honored that the people remember the small nuances that you do on the show and your dialogues.
What according to you is the USP of the show?
I think the USP lies in the whole simplicity of the show. The way it is carried out. The dialogues are simple yet catchy which strikes a chord with the audience.
Karthik is an ideal guy any girl would dream of. How is Mohsin different from Karthik?
Well, that is true. Karthik is really an ideal guy. He is an ideal man, he takes a stand for his family and wife whenever needed. He blindly trusts his wife. At the same time, he is very hard working. As Mohsin, I have learnt a lot from Karthik but I am not sure if I am that ideal. I am trying to be like Karthik, have the same patience level as him, the same courage as him, the same affection. Someday, I hope I will be as ideal as Karthik.
