When one hears about the collaboration of Vidyut Jammwal with Vipul Shah, the first thing that comes in mind is the Commando franchise. However, Pinkvilla has exclusively learnt that the duo is collaborating on another film next and it has been titled Sanak. It’s said to be an emotional action thriller, directed by Kanishk Varma and will see Vidyut Jammwal in a different avatar. “While Vidyut and Vipul have worked in three films of the Commando franchise and Force (1) in the capacity of actor and director, this would be their fifth collaboration together,” revealed a source close to the development.

It’s an action thriller with lot of emotion and will mark the Hindi film debut of Bengali actress, Rukmini Maitra. “They were on the look out for a fresh face, and after looking at talents from across industries, they felt, Rukhmini from the Bengali film industry fits the bill,” added the source. Sanak goes on the floors later this year, and will be shot on a big scale at some exotic locations. Before moving onto Sanak, Vipul would have wrapped up shooting for his digital debut, Human, which features Shefali Shah and Kirti Kulhari in the lead.

Vidyut on the other hand will jump into the Khuda Haafiz sequel soon. The first part of the franchise premiered on Hotstar in August and right after it’s release, the makers announced it’s sequel with an intent to take lead couple’s story forward. In the lockdown, the actor had two more direct to digital releases in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Yaara and Mahesh Manjrekar’s The Power. An official announcement of Sanak is expected to be made tomorrow i.e. on the Republic Day.
