EXCLUSIVE: Zaira Wasim receives an open letter from Tujhse Hai Raabta actress Reem Shaikh

Reem Shaikh who is currently playing the role of Kalyani Malhar Rane in Tujhse Hai Raabta show has written an open letter to Zaira Wasim who recently announced her disassociation from Bollywood. For the unversed, the National Award-winning actress took to her social media handle to reveal the same. In the lengthy post, the actress is not happy with the field of her work as it is getting interfered with her faith. She has been getting mixed response on the same. And now, Reem Shaikh of Tujhse Hai Raabta fame wrote an open letter to Zaira and expressed her opinion on the matter.

Check out the open letter right below.

Dear Zaira, even though you don’t know me, I think you are a wonderful actress and the National Award along with the many awards that you received for your performances were well deserved. Since the time you made the announcement about quitting films a lot of my friends from the media have called me and asked me for my take on the subject as I am a muslim too and a part of the same industry. So here is what I feel and these are my personal thoughts as an individual. Your decision is your prerogative and I’m sure it’s well contemplated however I feel since the inception of our Indian Film Industry great many muslim actresses and actors have done very well for themselves in their respective fields and also followed and practiced Islam successfully and diligently and at the same time achieved iconic status right from the legendary Madhubala ji and Dilip Kumar Sahab to Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, (Salman Khan being an exception as he follows and embraces all religions which is great).

I believe work is worship and your profession should not interfere with your religion; as a matter of fact it should take you closer to the All Mighty. Im a practising Muslim who tries her best to balance both my work and my religion and I have never been closer to God now than ever before. I believe our Film & Television Industry is the most tolerant of them all, when a film is made it does not have any religion and we should keep it this way. Religion is something personal and what or who I believe is be nobody’s business.

Therefore you are welcome to embrace your calling however I do wish and pray that you don’t mislead the many muslim girls and boys who are your fans and followers from pursuing their dreams and deprive our nation of these potential talents and future superstars, as these young girls and boys are all in a very impressionable age and any wrong or misdirected advice could lead to disastrous results and self doubt. All the best to you dear Zaira, may you fulfil all your dreams and aspirations. Allah Hafiz.

Speaking of Zaira, her first movie was with Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan. She played the role of Aamir daughter in the blockbuster Dangal. A year later, she was seen again with Aamir in Secret Superstar. In 2016, she was trolled heavily for being ‘un-Islamic’  as she chose Bollywood as her career. Zaira's third and the last film will be The Sky Is Pink, which is directed by Shonali Bose. In the movie, she is playing the role of a motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhary, who was diagnosed with a deadly disease called pulmonary fibrosis when she was just 13 years old.
