2.0 Weekend Box Office Collection: Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer enters Rs 400 crore club worldwide

Ever since Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 has released, within three days, the film has entered the 200-crore club. 2.0 was one of the most anticipated films of the year, for it brings together Akshay Kumar and South superstar Rajinikanth on-screen for the first time and going by the box office numbers, clearly, 2.0 is breaking all records. 2.0 is a sci-fi film directed by Shankar, and while Akshay Kumar plays the role of an antagonist the Crow Man, Rajinikanth is essaying the role of Chitti the Robot, the ultimate savior.
After releasing on November 29, 2018, while on Day 1, 2.0 earned Rs 20.25 crores at the box office, on Day 2, the film earned Rs 18 crores. Although the film had witnessed a slight drop at the box office but 2.0 continued its stronghold and thanks to the opening weekend, 2.0 is on a roll and has earned Rs 400 crore worldwide, having surpassed Fantastic Beasts, which slipped to the second position with 51.40 million dollar collection. Trade Analyst Ramesh Bala shared the box office numbers on Twitter as he informed, “#2Point0 is the No.1 Movie in the World for the Nov 29th – Dec 2nd Weekend with ~ 400 Crs [57.14 M] Gross WW Opening Weekend, it beats No.2 #FantasticBeasts ‘s this Weekend Gross of $51.40 M.”
For all those who don’t know, 2.0 is being touted as the costliest film ever made in the history of Indian cinema with an estimated budget of approximately Rs 600 crores. According to reports, the makers of 2.0 have already earned Rs 370 crore through various sources and satellite rights. 2.0 is dubbed in 13 languages has been shot in Hindi and Tamil and is presented in both 2D and 3D formats. Now that the film has entered Rs 400 crore club, we are sure the buzz around the film will escalate through the roof and it won’t be much of a surprise if the film inches towards Rs 500 crore club and shatter all records. 2PointZero is a sequel to the 2010 movie Enthiran starring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and the commercial success of Enthiran had prompted the makers of the film to make a sequel.
As quoted by Indian Express, 2.0 is also one of the top five all-time highest grossing south Indian films at the US box office. While Baahubali and Baahubali 2 still dominate the box office, but 2.0, stands at the fourth position followed by Rangasthalam.
