Kalank Box Office Collection Day 1: Varun and Alia multi starrer emerges as the biggest opener of 2019
Talking about Kalank, the same is a period drama set in the 1940's and it stars Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit in lead roles.

Kalank has shattered the box office record on the day one of its release itself. As per Box Office of India, the movie has recorded the best opening day of 2019 till now with collections around Rs 21-22 crores. Also, the makers have released the official collection figure and the same is Rs 21.60 crore.The same is also the highest opening day for both Varun and Alia Bhatt.
Till now, the position of the highest opening day was held by Kesari. For the unversed, it had earned Rs 20.40 crores on the day one. Talking about Kalank, it has hit the theatres on a massive scale. The movie released in around 4,000 screens in India and 1,300 in overseas markets. Also, the advance booking of Kalank was higher than the blockbuster Kesari and Total Dhamaal. The movie has the potential to earn more considering the extended weekend. Some reports also suggest that the movie may reach the Rs 100-crore mark in its extended five-day weekend itself.
An excerpt from the BOI report read as," The film may have got a good opening day number but there seems little for the youth and mass and it will eventually have to be the families and female audience which will have to drive the film. The real value of this initial will only be known in a few days time though the Mahavir Jayanti holiday tends to give a 25% boost but no big film has released on this day in recent past."
