It's a hattrick for Kangana Ranaut, as the lady has won her 3rd National Award for her phenomenal act in 2015's hit Tanu Weds Manu Returns. When the awards were announced, Kangana was on her way to her Nani's place in Himachal.

We got in touch with her and an excited Kangana spoke to us over a quick telephonic chat. Ask her how does it feel winning the 3rd National Award and she beams, "I am in Manali, on my way to my Nani's house and Rangoli started getting calls. And we are emotionally paralyzed. My mother started crying on hearing the news. It was unexpected and overwhelming."

She continues, "National Awards they announce on TV and don't send any letter or anything. So when they are announcing you don't know anything and you cannot even anticipate. But it is gratifying to receive the award from the President for your work. It is great for anyone to get the highest honour of the country. We are excited and thrilled."

Probe her about what was her first reaction on hearing this news and she reveals, "The first reaction was feeling proud to be able to play both the characters. It was me against me. I gave Tanu lot of expressions, hand movements. For Datto I gave lot of swag. So I had literally split myself into two personalities. Double roles or triple roles are rare so when I did it, I couldn't believe it. Today having this National Award, makes me feel great, especially winning it straight after my birthday."

So how does she plan to celebrate?

"My birthday was a low key affair after the mess that I have been going through. I felt I am in a good place but there was so much happening around me, so I didn't celebrate it. But with this win, I guess everything has been flushed out and I am looking at that silver lining. Like I have said in my previous interviews, 'its ok. shit happens. you have to move on'. I am planning to celebrate this win and I would host a small gathering for the people who rooted for me and for those who love underdog stories. I think Nani must have made something nice like Rajma Chawal, Kadhi and all of that, so we will have a mini celebration right now too," signs off Kangana.

Well, here's wishing the powerhouse actress hearty congratulations!
