You aren't active on social media. But doing a FB chat was your idea...
I think if I was on Twitter or Instagram, then you guys wouldn't have had a job. I would be giving my answers and clarifying on twitter. Everything is on social media. People like Saif, me and Ranbir are supporting you. Facebook chat wouldn't have its value. There is an excitement of an actor meeting a journalist and interacting. We promote the entire film on Instagram. I believe that, there should be a little sort of distance and aura.
You have always been a trendsetter - be it living-in with Saif, working after marriage and now through your pregnancy. Does that make you feel proud?
I didn't ever plan this. I always knew that this is going to be a phase which I want to enjoy with my work and colleagues. I am never going to shy away from the media. Being pregnant doesn't mean that I will hide myself in the house. I think it is a good time to be out and active, to share your point of view and that is what I am doing. But everyone said also na.. when I lived-in with Saif, it was a taboo, when I married him, it was a bigger thing. People said I won't work. And now again the same debate is on. I have constantly fought every battle be it anything. They said I only do commercial films, I did Udta Punjab and Ki & Ka. They said I am not doing Veere Di Wedding, but I am very much doing it.
How is the preparation for Veere Di Wedding going on?
The prep is fab. It is going to be an amazing movie. Normally, every actor wants to do a hero-heroine love story. Look great, shoot at good locations, I am going to be fab etc. But I don't want to do that. I always wanted to do a movie which is slightly different. There has never been a movie about four friends. I am most excited about this film. Whenever there is a news that I am not doing this film, I am like why are people saying this? We will shoot for the movie in October and of course there will be a break. Then we will shoot in Delhi and Greece from March. I don't play a pregnant lady in Veere Di Wedding. I might not have a six-pack but I will have a three pack by the end of the movie (laughs).
So then will you be traveling with your baby since you are shooting in Greece and Delhi?
That I don't know. That decision, I will take later. It is normal. There are working women who manage the same. Though my profession is slightly different, but I have been a multi-tasker since the beginning. Traveling both these worlds would be exciting. And I am sure I will be able to do it because I have done it with my relationship, my family and I will continue to do it.
Can you give us some more insight on your role in Veere Di Wedding?
It is a story of four friends, not sisters. It is my brother's wedding and my friends are attending it. But it isn't about four sisters and it is an original script. It is young, fresh and very today. For the past 9 months I am telling my manager that I want to do this movie.
You had almost taken over Sonam Kapoor's Snapchat on Sunday...
They are so active on social media. I don't need to be there because people around me are active on social media. Also my millions of fans are there and I say that with pride.
The topic of your Facebook chat is 'Lose your weight, not your mind'. On what does Kareena lose her mind?
I am actually quite calm and composed. I don't lose my mind easily. It has to be something really unnerving to be angry. It is contrary to my image. And nothing rattles me as much. Yeah, my friends, family and husband - these are things that I fiercely protect. That is why I am not on social media too.
How do you plan to celebrate your birthday?
This birthday, nothing is special. I will be with family. Will eat a lot of food, just chill and relax. This year, no party. Anyway, whenever someone comes to my place, they get clicked and it appears like a party. My friends are like we can't come to your house also.
And what about your baby shower?
That also we don't know. Nothing is planned yet. It is so early.
Karisma recently said that 'No advise' is the best tip she has for you. But have you taken any tips from your sister or mother?
I think my mother and sister are always there and they are a part of my life. They both want me to experience life on my own, and are letting me take my own decisions. If there is anything to ask then they are always there. I think this is going to be my own journey and it will be like that. This experience has to be between Saif and me.
Is Saif pampering you more now?
Nothing. In fact, he is more busy. He finished Rangoon, Kala Kanti and now next week he leaves for Chef for two months.
