Madhu Chopra opens up on her daughter Priyanka Chopra's marriage.
Priyanka Chopra has been ruling the world with her achievements. From winning Miss World in 2000 to debuting in Bollywood and becoming an A-list actress, to then heading to the West and being the face of the now successful American series Quantico, followed by a much awaited Hollywood debut opposite Dwayne Johnson in Baywatch, Priyanka Chopra has done it all.
If that isn't enough then the gorgeous woman has won a People's Choice Award twice in a row, she was amongst Time Magazine's Most Influential People, she made it to the top ten in the Forbes List and the most recent achievement of hers is to receive an invitation to be able to vote at The Academy Awards!
And these achievements by the actress has surely made her mother proud. But despite her global stature, one wonders if her mother, like any other mom, wants her daughter to settle down and get married.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, when we asked Madhu Chopra about it, she smiled and said, "If she finds real love, I would want her to settle down. Otherwise, I don't think she has to. She has worked very hard to get where she is. Just because her mom wants her to get married and she gives in, isn't something that as a mother I wish for. And this is my advice to all career driven girls."
She adds, "The girls are making a headway in such a difficult world. For girls it is double the efforts to prove that they are worth it. Why would they want to give that up? They put in so much hardwork to get to a place where a guy would have reached rather easily, then why give up? I am for gender equality. Both should be given equal opportunities and they should be selected on merit."
