EXCLUSIVE: Ajay Devgn & Ranbir Kapoor's next SHELVED after the former opts out
The superstar has opted out of the film and after his exit, the makers are also planning to put the project on the backburner.
Several big films with stellar cast might get mounted in Bollywood in regular intervals. But more often than not, these ideas bite the dust and never make it to celluloid. A year and a half ago, Ajay Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor announced that they will be starring alongside each other in Luv Ranjan's next which is a quirky relationship drama.
Since the announcement, the film has been in news for several reasons. There have been a lot of rumours about the leading ladies - from Deepika Padukone, Ileana D'Cruz, Nushrat Bharucha and Alia Bhatt - everyone's name was doing the rounds. But then, in the wake of Me Too movement, where Luv's name was also called out for alleged sexual misconduct, Deepika faced the ire when news started circulating that she's been signed on for the project.
But now, we can tell you that the film might not be happening at all. Says a source close to the development, "Ajay Devgn has taken his name out of the film. He opted out a few weeks ago and now, won't be starring in the movie anymore. There were a few things that all of them couldn't agree on and they thought it's better to not take the discussion ahead anymore. The film was anyway getting pushed but after AJ's exit, it seems the entire project has been derailed. Luv, on the other hand, has decided to keep this film on the backburner and concentrate on another film that he's been planning to mount on for sometime now." We sent a text to Luv and asked him about the development, but he maintained his silence and chose not to respond to our messages.
