EXCLUSIVE: Shruti Haasan on working with Prabhas in Salaar: He is genuinely chilled out & positive as a person

2021 seems to be an exciting year for Shruti Haasan. Besides featuring in Salaar, Vakeel Saab and Laabam, the actress will also be seen in Amazon’s web series adaptation of Ravi Subramanian’s novel, The Bestseller She Wrote. However, Shruti informs that 2020 itself was a year of great reckoning and turning points for her. “Personally I started to channel more towards my creativity as for the first time in years there was no sense of schedule, or having to report anywhere. So for me, I really looked at it in a more productive way, as to what kind of work I want to do, what kind of stuff I want to do for my music and what other talents I want to explore,” says Shruti who had started working around July last year.

“I finished Krack, after which I shot for a guest star role in my cousin’s Amazon series Putham Pudhu Kaalai in Tamil, as well as for Nag Ashwin’s Pitta Kathalu. Then Krack released, which did so well. So it has been really amazing,” the actress adds. She will next be seen with Prabhas in their upcoming action-thriller, Salaar. “The director of KGF, Prashanth Neel is helming this, so it is such a power packed combination with just the two of them. I was really excited when I had heard about the project, I was even a part of it back then. But it all happened very quickly, I was in the middle of other shoots and it kind of happened. When Prashanth told me the story, I really liked it. It's very much in his space of action, drama and emotion. I was really excited to work with Prabhas,” says Shruti, who has already shot for a small schedule of the film.

She will start shooting for it again in a couple of days after wrapping up The Bestseller She Wrote. Meanwhile, she is all praise for the filmmaker. “What I really liked, even in the few days of working with the director, that he has got a vision which he is so clear about. As an actor it’s wonderful to work with a director who has such a clear vision,” Shruti asserts.

This is the first time she is collaborating with Prabhas for a film. “He is genuinely very chilled out and positive as a person. There are people who pretend to be humble, we have all seen plenty of them. But this is not a pretence, he is genuinely in touch with himself,” Shruti signs off.
