With Mumbai Saga up for release in the cinema halls on March 19, Pinkvilla got in conversation with John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi, who are on the run in this Sanjay Gupta directed gangster drama. The duo was in their complete elements, all geared up for the release, and at the same time nervous considering the uncertainty of showbiz due to the on-going coronavirus infused pandemic. The two have visibly lost a lot of weight, which is certainly for their portrayal of a baddie in the upcoming spy universe films, Pathan for John and Tiger 3 for Emraan.
John informed that having grown up in Mumbai, he was always aware of the gang-war culture and opened up about the transformation from Bombay to Mumbai. Emraan laughed saying that the only thing that has changed over the last 40 years is the amount of traffic in the city. Having worked in the gangster world of both Sanjay Gupta and Milan Luthria, Emraan informed that both of them have their distinct approach to filmmaking, but, are similar when it comes to larger-than-life presentation of characters.
John Abraham diplomatically answered questions around Pathan with Shah Rukh Khan whereas Emraan Hashmi, indirectly suggested that he is collaborating with Salman Khan in Tiger 3. The two also spoke about their fascination with negative characters and the difference in approach vis-à-vis playing the positive one. Emraan has a clear funda of taking up characters that he can justify whereas for John, it’s all about following director’s vision. Here’s a candid conversation of Pinkvilla with John and Emraan:
