IT 2, Hustlers Box Office Collection: Jennifer Lopez starrer puts up a good show but Pennywise rules weekend
According to the latest box office report, Hustlers raked in good money over the weekend coming in second after the horror flick 'It: Chapter Two'.
Jennifer Lopez's drama flick Hustlers has hit the theatres and is raking in good money at the US box office. In the Lorene Scafaria directorial, Jennifer plays Ramona, the owner of a popular strip club who sets up a scam to hustle from her wealthy Wall Street clients. Along with Lopez, the star-studded cast of Hustlers includes Constance Wu, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Riverdale star Lili Reinhart, Lizzo, and Cardi B.
According to the latest box office report in Variety, Hustlers raked in good money over the weekend coming in second after the horror flick 'It: Chapter Two'. The thriller film stood at the number one position for second week in a row and Hustlers' box office collection rather came as a surprise. Hustlers managed to rake in USD 33.2 million in its first week as it made it to 3,250 North American theaters.
The success of Hustlers has been noteworthy as young women in large numbers turned up to watch the film. Among opening weekend crowds, 67 per cent were female and 69 per cent were over the age of 25, reported Variety. Meanwhile, Jennifer has been getting major Oscar buzz for her scene-stealing performance in Hustlers. While talking to SiriusXM radio about the Oscar buzz and favourable reviews from TIFF 2019, Lopez revealed that she felt like crying when she read the reviews she was getting for her performance in Hustlers.
While 'It: Chapter Two' collected USD 40 million this weekend, it witnessed a 55 per cent decline from its first week collection. The horror flick has collected USD 153 million in North America so far and USD 323 million globally.
