Kamal Haasan's much-awaited Vishwaroopam 2 has released in over 2000 screens worldwide today, August 10. With this film, Kamal Haasan will return to the big screen after a long break. It’s been five years since the first instalment released, however, fans are still kicked about the sequel. But, according to predictions, the film is expected to do well mostly in the southern regions but won't open to huge numbers in north India. Vishwaroopam 2, produced in association with V. Ravichandran's Aascar Films, is believed to have done Rs 110 crore pre-release business through the sale of theatrical and satellite rights.

Written, directed and co-produced by Kamal Haasan, Vishwaroopam 2 is the sequel to his 2013 action thriller Vishwaroopam. The film’s cinematography has been done by Shamdat Sainuddeen and has music by Gibran. The film stars Kamal Haasan, Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah and Shekhar Kapur in lead roles. Kamal plays Captain Wisam Ahmad Kashmiri, a soldier-turned-espionage agent.. Trade experts believe, out of all the setbacks the film has faced, the recent untimely demise of Tamil Nadu’s former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi might also affect the collections of the movie.

Here the live updates of the Day 1 box office collection:

2:30 PM:

Film Critic Sreedhar Pillai called the sequel engaging. Here's the tweet:

#Vishwaroopam2 A engaging sequel, that works largely due to @ikamalhaasan one-man show and a couple of dialogue scenes. #Andrea is a revelation, while @PoojaKumarNY scenes with Kamal r enjoyable. Slow paced as story goes back and forth & too much footage used from part 1.

10:30 AM

Popular Trade analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted that the first half travels back and forth in time and says Kamal Haasan is in top form. He also added that he is getting appreciated for his role. Here's the tweet:

#Vishwaroopam2 1st Half: The movie travels back and forth in time.. Prequel & sequel..

From NYC to UK to Chennai 's OTA to Afghanistan..

One thing is sure.. Engaging.. @ikamalhaasan in top form..

His verbal duel with #AnandMahadevan - Lot of applause in theatre..

Trade analyst Girish Johar has predicted an average start of the film at the box office in North India. He told Indian Express, "Vishwaroopam 2 might have a difficult weekend in the South. Following the death of M Karunanidhi, it is difficult to say anything about the film’s earnings there, but in the Hindi belt, it will earn something between Rs 2-2.5 crore on its opening day."

10:15 AM

Trade analyst Sumit Kadel told Times Now, "I don’t think the film will work in the Hindi belt. It barely has any buzz surrounding it, so one should not expect it to bring great numbers at the box-office. Vishwaroop, the prequel of this film, was a major box-office flop if you look at the budget that film was made on." He added, "The reason why Vishwaroop 2 got made despite Vishwaroop failing at the box-office is that a major portion of the film had already been shot. From the beginning itself, it was planned as a two-part film." According to him, the film would have a decent opening of around 1.50 crore in the Hindi Belt.
