EXCLUSIVE: Aparshakti Khurana on banning Pakistani artists: Our Jawans do a lot more than we could do

The past two weeks have been extremely critical between India and Pakistan. Post the Pulwama Terror Attack, the entire nation was shaken up including many Bollywood celebrities with the loss of the CRPF jawans. The next few actions between the two countries ended up escalating the tension at the border. Also, many Bollywood actors’ associations like the All Indian Cine Workers Association and more refused to work with artists from across the borders. Amidst the tension, this week’s release, Luka Chuppi’s producer, Dinesh Vijan announced that their film will not be releasing in Pakistan.

Now that the film has released in India and is doing well, one of the most promising and talented stars from the film, Aparshakti Khurana spoke exclusively to Pinkvilla and expressed his respect for the Central government and the Armed Forces. Aparshakti expressed that in these moments of tension, not releasing Luka Chuppi in Pakistan was a very small gesture on the part of public figures like him. He even supported the decisions being taken in this regard and said that Jawans do a lot more at the border that he and the makers have done.

Aparshakti also appreciated the Armed forces and Central government's efforts and said, “Whatever decisions Central government and the Armed Forces are taking, it is only in the right direction. And whatever decisions they take in the future, it will be in the right direction. We will totally respect that. We really need to be together in this. We appreciate whatever is being done. It is difficult to take decisions in such situations.”

He also added, “Plus, talking about artists, that’s the minimum thing we can do. Someone was talking about the fact that Luka Chuppi didn't release in Pakistan. The day it came out in the news that things are not going fine and the Pulwama attack came out in the news, it was that very day when Dinesh (Vijan) announced this. This was a very small thing which we could do. There is lots to do which the armed forces and government are doing. It was a very small step we could take which was our contribution. And it was a gut decision and an Instinctive decision. I am sure that jawans at the border are doing a lot more for the country than we could ever do in all our lives. So, this was only a small gesture. And I am sure, what the government is doing we totally respect that. We all are together in it. Whatever little we can do, being public figures, I think we should be ready to do anytime.”

The breakout star from one of the most loved films of  2018 Stree, Aparshakti also expressed his wish to serve the country and mentioned that he himself had given the Armed Forces entrance exam back in the days. He said, “I am a person who wanted to be a sportsperson and represent the country. Later, when I realised that cricket might not happen for me, I also sat for the NDA exam. I always wanted to serve the country. But, unfortunately, NDA isn't an easy exam to crack. So, whatever little we could do in our capacity, I think we should do it.”
