EXCLUSIVE: Kartik Aaryan in talks with Hansal Mehta for a film based on real events; expected to roll in 2022

Kartik Aaryan is on a roll. The actor started shooting for Ram Madhvani’s Dhamaka in December and has already wrapped up the film. He has Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Collin D'Cunha’s Dostana 2 in his kitty as well. There are reports that he might collaborate with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Heera Mandi too. Now, we have a new update on the actor’s upcoming films. Pinkvilla has learnt that Kartik is in talks with National Award winning director Hansal Mehta for his next.

“Kartik and Hansal share a good equation and have been meaning to collaborate for a while now. This one is a real-life story which will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala. However, the involved parties are yet to sign on the dotted line. The film is expected to go on the floors in the first quarter of 2022,” informs a source close to the development. Meanwhile, the story is presently being developed and the filmmaker will start pre-production only after locking the final script.

Hansal has directed acclaimed movies like Shahid, City Lights and Aligarh. He received a lot of love last year for directing the Pratik Gandhi starrer, Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, and Kartik is a big fan of Hansal’s films. Mehta’s Chhalaang with Rajkummar Rao and Nushrratt Bharuccha released on Amazon Prime video was also well received. 

Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan’s Dhamaka has been sold to Netflix and the film is expected to release in June this year. He had announced the film on his birthday November 22, 2020.
