Rajkummar Rao's Newton hit the screens on September 22, 2017, and within a day of its release, the news came that the movie has been selected as India’s official entry in the foreign language category for the 90th Academy Awards. The whole nation rejoiced with the decision but there were reports that Priyanka Chopra and her mother Madhu Chopra were disappointed as they were expecting their film Ventilator to be making to the Oscars.

When we got in touch with Madhu Chopra, she quoted to us stating, "We are happy for Newton. Yes, the fact that Ventilator was shortlisted for the Indian Jury was great. We will try to better it."

What do you have to say about it? Let us know in the comments below.

When a leading daily spoke about it to the director of Ventilator, Rajesh Mhapuskar he said, "I told her (Madhu Chopra) not to worry, assuring her that only the best film would make it. We were a bit disappointed when we learnt about the verdict, the next day."

He further said, "I guess, Priyanka must be even more disappointed because she was always ambitious about the film. Had it been selected, she would have ensured that it was the most-talked-about film in the run to the Oscars, especially since she is already an established name there. A ventilator was always the favourite baby of their banner."

Speaking about Newton, Rajesh said, "I have heard good things about it and am looking forward to seeing it."
