Box-Office Report: Priyanka Chopra's Jai Gangaajal has a Poor Opening on Day 1

The Priyanka Chopra starrer Jai Gangaajal released today and had a poor opening of 10% at most multiplexes across India. The Prakash Jha directed film’s opening was a bit better in the multiplexes in UP and Central India. The results were the same in single screens of Ambala and Delhi, it hardly had any audience. Though, the single screens of some smaller cities managed some collections. The film has had the widest release of the year, going over 2600 screens, but that can only help if the film can find some appreciation from the audiences.

The film is a sequel to the Gangaajal starring Ajay Devgn released in 2003. Jai Gangaajal did decent in some circuits but not well enough to hold any value as a brand to its prequel.

The other release of the week Zubaan is a dull fare and its collection is like last week’s disaster Aligarh.

Jai Gangaajal’s growth has to be phenomenal over the weekend to earn some decent collections. Else, success looks an impossible task.
