With a new Friday, cinema-goers get a chance to explore a new genre of films which release in a week. This Friday, among Bollywood films, John Abraham and Mouni Roy starrer RAW aka Romeo Akbar Walter released and is based on the theme of patriotism. Helmed by Robbie Grewal, RAW is the story of an undercover Indian Agent who is deployed on a mission to serve his nation, and in that process, he has to do certain things which put his life in jeopardy. Set in 1971, RAW takes one back to the atmosphere filled with tension between India and Pakistan.
John plays the role of Romeo/Akbar/Walter in the film. The film also stars Mouni Roy, Jackie Shroff and Sikander Kher in pivotal roles. RAW released today and has received a lukewarm response from the audiences. Romeo Akbar Walter’s box office occupancy of day 1 was recorded at 10-15% which is much lower than what was expected from the film on an opening day. While the actual box office collection will come in by the end of the day, the occupancy reports are already out and things don’t look much bright for the film.
The film’s trailer surely intrigued the audiences due to the patriotism and thriller angle. However, the film didn’t release close to any patriotic holidays, and hence, it might pick up over the two day weekend. The songs of the film like Bulleya, Jee Len De were liked by the audiences. However, rest will depend upon the word of mouth of the audiences. As the weekend progresses, it will be interesting to see how John and Mouni’s performances are able to hold the audiences' interest.
