EXCLUSIVE: EXCLUSIVE: After Fighter, Hrithik Roshan to return as Kabir in War 2 next; Shoot begins by year end

In 2019, Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff teamed up for the first time on the Siddharth Anand directed spy film, War. The film created several records and ended up as a Blockbuster by entering the Rs 300 crore club at the Indian Box Office. It was also the highest grossing film of 2019. Ever since the release of War, there has been a chatter about War 2. Recently, in an interaction, Hrithik confirmed that War 2 is in the making without getting much into the timelines of the film. And now, Pinkvilla has exclusively learnt that Hrithik Roshan is set to start shooting for War 2 by the end of this year.
“Hrithik Roshan is presently shooting for Fighter, which is expected to be wrapped up by August 2023, and gearing up for a Republic Day 2024 release. On calling it a wrap on Fighter, Hrithik will dive into the prep mode to return as Kabir again, as YRF is planning to take War 2 on floors post monsoon this year,” revealed a source close to the development, adding further that the film is expected to take off by October/November 2023.
The action-packed entertainer will be YRF’s big ticket release in the second half of 2024. “After Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan and Tiger 3, War 2 will be the 6th film of YRF’s ambitious Spy Universe. While the basic plot is locked, the film is currently in the pre-production stage. War raised the bar of action and casting for Indian Cinema, and the idea is to go a notch higher with War 2. The casting is also under way, and much like War, YRF plans to surprise one and all with a one of it’s kind casting coup in the sequel,” the source added.
Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Anand are currently shooting for Fighter, which is said to be a one of it’s kind Aerial Action Franchise. It marks the first-time collaboration of Hrithik with Deepika Padukone and the makers have promised a never seen before theatrical experience with the film. After calling it a wrap on the first schedule earlier last year, the team will reunite for the second schedule by mid-February.
Meanwhile, since the release of Pathaan, Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir has been in the news for varied reasons. While Kabir's mention in Pathaan got loud cheers from the audience in cinema halls, various fan theories around War 2 too have gone viral, with many fans wanting to see War 2 with Kabir (Hrithik) and Jim (John Abraham) taking on a common enemy in the prequel set up. Everyone is tight lipped about the probable plot and casting of War 2 at this point of time, however, the things are going to move in fast pace from February end.
