EXCLUSIVE: Ashok Selvan, Ritika Singh and Vijay Sethupathi’s Oh My Kaduvale gears up for a Hindi remake

The valentine’s day 2020 release, Oh My Kaduvale (which transaltes to Oh My God) proved to be a sleeper hit at the box-office, winning appreciation from the critics and audience alike for narrating a simplistic slice of life tale, with an element of fantasy. The film featured Ashok Selvan and Ritika Singh in the lead, with Vijay Sethupathi in an extended cameo playing the character of a god. The film was also selected for official screening at International Indian Film Festival, held in August 2020, in Toronto. The Telugu rights of the film were sold much before its release, and now, Pinkvilla has exclusively learnt that even a Hindi remake of the same film is on the way.
“Romance is the most universal story in the world, and at it’s heart, Oh My Kaduvale is a romantic tale with a “fantasy twist” to it. It’s loaded with light hearted moments and the treatment is such that the audience would leave the cinema hall with a smile on their face. Given the love and appreciation it received from the audience, it was an ideal film to be remade in Hindi, and Endemol Shine India, bagged the rights to bring it to the pan-Indian audience,” revealed a source close to the development. 
The producers are currently on the look out for a director and talking to several top names from Hindi film industry and on getting a director on board will they move on to casting of the film. “Like the original, the cast will comprise of two young actors to play the lead couple, and a senior superstar to portray the role of god, which was done by Vijay Sethupathi in the original,” the source added. Apart from Oh My Kaduvale, Endemol Shine India is also producing the Hindi remake of the recently released Thalapathy Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi film, Master, along with Kabir Singh producer, Murad Khetani. The action thriller is expected to go on floors later this year.
