Amitabh Bachchan and Boman Irani’s next with Sooraj Barjatya titled Oonchai, Anupam Kher joins the cast

Pinkvilla was the first to report that Amitabh Bachchan and Boman Irani are collaborating for the first time on director, Sooraj Barjatya’s next film and it would go on the floors around the month of September 2021. We also revealed that the film is set against the backdrop of friendship in the old age, and draws inspiration from Sooraj’s personal experiences too. And now, we are getting to you the title of this much awaited feel-good friendship drama, which will be Sooraj’s seventh directorial after Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hai Kaun, Hum Saath Saath Hai, Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, Vivah and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

“It’s titled Oonchai/Uchai signifying height and growth. Sooraj Ji’s titles have always been unique and even this one was finalized after contemplating on multiple other names for the film. It’s currently in the pre-production stage and the team is all charged up to take it on floors around the month of September 2021,” revealed a source close to the development. And that’s not all, Sooraj Barjatya’s fav actor, Anupam Kher too has joined the cast of Oonchai/Uchai.

While details of his character have been kept under wraps for now, a source tells that given the set-up against backdrop of friendship, there lies a high possibility of him being a close friend of both, Sr. Bachchan and Boman Irani. “It must be a tale of three to four friends, with Anupam Kher being one of them. The actor has absolutely loved the story and instantly came on board, just like Big B and Boman Irani. It's a heartwarming tale of friendship,” the source added. Interestingly, Sooraj got all his actors on board in just a single narration, and that’s something that makes us excited about the film’s content.
