Box Office Report: Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt's Badrinath Ki Dulhania hits a century
Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt's Badrinath Ki Dulhania has crossed the 100 crore mark in just 13 days since its release.
Director Shashank Khaitan's Badrinath Ki Dulhania has finally hit the century mark by the end of its second week. The movie that stars Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in the lead opened to positive reviews from both the critics and the audience alike.
13 days after its release, the movie has collected INR 100 crore at the box office. The movie's production house Dharma Productions posted about the same on their Twitter handle. They shared, "13 days, millions of hearts & a 100 crores - this season's biggest blockbuster! #BKD100cr @karanjohar @apoorvamehta18 @Varun_dvn @aliaa08."
According to a trade site, the film has also recorded the highest second week collection for the year 2017, and has beat the previous record held by Jolly LLB 2. While Akshay Kumar starrer earned INR 23.77 crore whereas the Varun and Alia starrer has collected INR 26.25 crore.
And though the production numbers stated that the movie has crossed the INR 100 crore mark, according to a trade site, the movie is just two crore short of the big number and has earned INR 98 crore.
Interestingly, if Dilwale is ignored then Badrinath Ki Dulhania will become the highest grossing film for both Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. Also, if the current trend continues, then by the end of third week, BKD will cross the lifetime collections of Jolly LLB 2 making it the second highest grosser of 2017, the first one being Shah Rukh Khan's Raees.
Post Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Varun Dhawan will begin shooting for Judwaa 2 along with Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu whereas Alia shall soon begin prep for Dragon and will simultaneously shoot for Gully Boy.
