Salman Khan's Tubelight fails to recreate the Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan's storm at the box office
Salman Khan's Tubelight underperforms at the box office.
Salman Khan has been ruling the EID weekends ever since 2009. Even as Wanted gave Salman the much-necessary push after a brief period of lull in his career, it is Dabangg which changed the economic dynamics for him. With Dabangg, Salman entered the 100 crore club and since then his Midas touch has remained invincible.
With Tubelight crawling to enter the Rs 100 crore club, trade pundits have been wondering if this will be Salman's lowest earnings. Tubelight which released three days prior to EID witnessed a lukewarm response according to Salman's standard. The four-day collections of the film are around INR 83 crore.
When compared to his previous two EID releases- Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) and Sultan (2016), Tubelight failed to do wonders at the box office. Despite recording the highest opening weekend collections of 2017, the movie hasn't been able to cross the 100 crore mark on the EID day.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan released on the EID day itself and it only took them three days to cross the Rs 100 crore mark. However, Tubelight being a pre-Eid release hasn't been able to benefit much from the long weekend and holiday. 
When compared to other pre-Eid releases, it has still underperformed considering the scale and budget of the movie. While Ek Tha Tiger which released in 2012 took 6 days to make 100 crores, Kick took 5 days but these movies capitalized big time on the EID day. However, Tubelight failed to mint big on the HOLIDAY and that has come as a surprise to many.
It is to be seen if the movie can cross 100-crore in the next 2 days, if not, it might become the lowest EID release collections for him in the last 5 years.
Helmed by Kabir Khan, the movie also stars Sohail Khan, Chinese actor Zhu Zhu, child actor Matin Rey Tangu and later veteran actor Om Puri in the lead role.
