Amruta Khanvilkar is all geared up to star in her first Dharma Productions movie which is in every actor's wishlist. The beautiful actress will be seen in a pivotal role in Meghna Gulzar's Raazi starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.

In an EXCLUSIVE interview with PINKVILLA, when we asked Amruta about her experience on shooting for Raazi, the elated actress could not hide her excitement.

As the team shot a major sequence in Kashmir, we asked Amruta if there were any difficulties in shooting to which she replied, "Frankly, I went for all the schedules, whether it be the Mumbai, Punjab and Kashmir schedule. I think, being a Dharma Productions movie, we did not face any problems because everything was beautifully taken care of. The entire film wrapped up in two months. It was a great experience. For me, it's my first Dharma film. When I had auditioned for this role, I got a call from the casting director to go and meet Meghna ma'am. I was so thrilled but I had to keep my excitement to myself because Meghna ma'am's style of filmmaking is completely different. The way she is personally is very different. So, I was jumping in my heart and soul in the office of Dharma and I still had to keep a very calm and straight face. The first meeting of Meghna ma'am and I was; we spoke about the character and she told me that the thing she liked about my audition was that, I was the only one who interpreted the real character of the film and I was very happy. The other day I had given an audition and the second day, I was signed. So, I was thrilled to be a part of this entire film and I had a lot of scenes with Alia."

Amruta was all compliments for her co-star Alia as she revealed, "She's such an amazing talent and such a lovely girl. When you see such immense talent at such a young age, it blows your mind. I was blown away when I saw Alia in action in front of me, in front of my eyes she performed and it was beautiful. My entire experience has been great."

For the uninitiated, Raazi is based on Harinder Sikka's best-selling novel Calling Sehmat. Alia plays a Kashmiri woman who is also an Indian spy while being married to a Pakistani army official (played by Vicky). When we asked Amruta to reveal details about her character, the actress said, "It's Calling Sehmat because it is a Muslim character. My character is also a Muslim character and that's the only thing I can reveal."

On how involved Karan Johar was as a producer, Amruta stated, "I did meet him thrice but I think, his involvement was more with Meghna ma'am and more to do with her as he was just producing it and not directing it. I was very happy that Dharma...I mean, who does not want to work with Dharma? (laughs) It's a very different film from Dharma Productions. Meghna ma'am is known for her extremely engaging screenplay and direction which is something you will see in Raazi also."

Amruta always had Meghna on her wishlist of directors to work with. "I think she is one of the finest directors to work with. You generally make a list of where you want to be in five years from now. She was on my list of directors that I wanted to work with so when I got a chance to work with her, I just completely grabbed it. I couldn't tell her, 'I'm such a huge fan of your work and I love your style of filmmaking.' But, yes it just did happen that my list got one tick mark, so I'm very happy," Amruta concluded.
