Mission Mangal Box Office Collection Day 8: Akshay, Vidya, Sonakshi, Taapsee’s film has a great FIRST week
Mission Mangal starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari and Sharman Joshi released on Independence Day. The film has managed to have an amazing first week at the box office. Here’s how much it made on Day 8. Read on.
For the first time in Bollywood, a space film was made in the form of Mission Mangal and it released on Independence Day. The film brought together some of the brilliant actors of Bollywood including Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari and Sharman Joshi and was based on Indian Space Research Organisation’s Mangalyaan. Akshay backed the film with R Balki and let the female actors take the lead.
The first space film surely intrigued the audience and it also brought people to the theatres which lead to a great box office collection for the film. At the end of the first week at the box office, Mission Mangal has managed to take advantage of the extended days due to Independence Day release and has earned a total of Rs 125 Crore nett. Talking about the Box office collection of Day 8, the film managed to rake in Rs 6 Crore nett. The film is one of the biggest hits of Akshay’s career and is among the top three movies of this year including Kabir Singh and Uri: The Surgical Strike. 
Directed by debutante director Jagan Shakti, Mission Mangal’s trailer showcased Akshay as a scientist who believes in the power of science and experiments. He embarks upon a journey of taking India to Mars with a bunch of female scientists and how the Mission Mangal comes around is the story of the film. The stars had been promoting the film from quite some time and after it’s release, Akshay, Vidya, Sonakshi, Taapsee and others have been overwhelmed by the response to the same. The film clashed with John Abraham starrer Batla House which is also doing well.
