Somy Ali, who has been working with survivors of domestic violence and abuse, is completely glued into the Me Too movement in India. She said, "It is phenomenal what Tanushree Dutta has accomplished and we have a long way to go. I have tons of respect for that young lady. I have been a survivor as you know since I was five." So when we asked how was it when she was working In Bollywood, Somy shared, "There were people making passes at me."

The actress who is at present the Founder/President of No More Tears.org, which helps victims of Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence informed us that she faced harassment at the hands of her Hindi diction tutor and director of the film, Andolan. Somy narrated, "We were filming out of town—the director of the film was pretty blunt when he called my hotel room and I hung up on him. And the tutor whose name I think, his name was Gautam, was talking to me about sex out of nowhere. It really got uncomfortable for me."

Somy stressed that this is one issue that she will scream from the top of a mountain as it happens far too often and the prevalence is terrifying. The actress believes every survivor and it is about time this is happening but there must also be consequences.  "It’s a step towards progress people have gotten away and will get away it is pivotal that action happens now," she stated.

Somy has had a very dreadful experience with a makeup artist who has worked with Madhuri Dixit as well. "He tried to kiss me and told me my lips were beautiful. Luckily, my father was in the next room and happened to walk in at the perfect time. Dad told him to not shut the room door when doing my make up. I remember like this was yesterday and it still turns my stomach."

"Hats off to all the women and men that are survivors. It is very difficult to come out with your story. It took me 40 years to do so. So lots of respect and don’t look back. Keep at it. Our voices will be heard," Somy concluded.
