A “pick-me-up” face mask can leave your skin clean and glowing. Cleanse the skin. Mix honey with egg white and apply it on the face. Wash it off with water after 20 minutes. Keep rosewater in a bowl in the fridge with cotton wool pads soaking in it.

After applying the face mask, take two of the cotton wool pads soaked in rose water and use them as eye pads. Squeeze out the rose water and then apply on eyelids. Lie down and relax, while you have the mask and eye pads on. Rosewater actually has a calming effect, helps to remove fatigue and brighten the eyes.

What do you do if a pimple suddenly makes its appearance? Just apply foundation over it. Wait for it to dry and then apply foundation on the entire face. Touch up the pimple again with foundation. Then apply powder to “set” the foundation.

To conceal pits left by acne scars, take a foundation that is a shade or two lighter than the one you use on your entire face. Apply the light foundation into the pits, using a fine brush. A concealer can also be used. Wait for a few minutes. Then, apply your normal foundation or compact powder on the rest of the face.

Nothing like a fruit mask to add a glow on Valentine’s Day! It suits all skin types. Fruits like banana, apple, papaya and orange can be mixed together and applied on the face. They should be made into a pulp. Keep it on for 20 to 30 minutes.

For very dry, rough, bushy hair: Mix some water with creamy hair conditioner and put it in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture on the hair. Then comb the hair, so that it spreads through the hair.

If you suddenly find your hair has too much static – or a “fly away” hair problem. All you need to do is to wet your hands with water and smooth your palms over the hair. And, avoid too much brushing.

For Oily Hair: Boil used tea leaves again in enough water. After boiling, you should have about 4 cups of the tea-water. Cool and strain the liquid. Add the juice of a lemon to it and use it as a last rinse.

Skin and Hair Care Tips for boys:

Boys are more prone to acne than girls. Male skin is thicker than female skin and also richer in oil-producing glands. The simple way of preventing acne is to cleanse the skin morning and night with a medicated cleanser or face wash. Rinse with plenty of water.

If there is no acne, use a facial scrub two or three times a week, applying it on the face and rubbing gently with small circular movements. Wash off with water. This helps to prevent blackheads and brightens the skin. Facial scrubs are easily available.

Always wash or cleanse the face at night. Cleansing at night is of utmost importance, to remove all the pollutants that have been deposited on the skin during the day.

The hair should be washed frequently, especially if you are travelling a lot by bus. Use only half teaspoon shampoo, dilute with a little water and then apply. Work up lather and rinse well with water. Washing helps to get rid of dirt, pollutants, oil secretions and sweat deposits.

If there is excessive oiliness, avoid oil and use a hair rinse. Add the juice of a lemon to a mug of water and use as a last rinse after shampoo. Avoid vigorous massage and rubbing of the head. For dry hair, apply a few drops of hair serum or leave-in hair conditioner after shampoo.

For dry skin on the body, apply sesame seed (til) oil before bathing. Immediately after bath, while the skin is still damp, apply a body lotion.
