Fryday movie review: Govinda's FryDay is one such movie that can't be watched even once, no matter how loyal you are a fan of the veteran actor.

If there is one actor whose films can be rewatched again and again, it's comedy legend Govinda. No one could or can match up to ChiChi's level of humour. However, FryDay is one such movie that can't be watched even once, no matter how loyal you are a fan of the veteran actor. FryDay is the story of Rajiv (Varun Sharma) a pavitra puritan whose life is filled with Vitamin Idiots. His job at PP Purifier is at stake and his girlfriend just dumped him. He has untill Friday to sell alteast one purifier or else he will lose his job. His saviour is the wife of Rajiv (Govinda) who tells him to get the purifier to their house on Friday, which coincidentally is the day she has to go out for some NGO work. However, on arrival, he finds Gagan, who has his mistress Bindu (Digangana Suryavashi) at home. What follows is a in-house comedy with misunderstandings and cliched supporting characters like a chor and a police officer.

With flops like Aa Gaya Hero and now FryDay, its high time that Govinda hangs up his boots. Yes, there were minor traces of the Govinda we loved and adored, such as the theatre scene! Alas, the scenes were like special appearances. What Govinda needs for his revival is a reunion with David Dhawan. Untill then, all we get is Fryday. There's one punchline which had everyone laughing and that's Govinda hitting us with the harsh truth - Chucha, oops! Rajiv exclaims to Gagan that he should win an Oscar for lying. In return Gagan says, "Oscar? Pehle National toh mil jaaye!" Varun Sharma's frustrated act is the perfect metaphor for how we felt about the movie. The actor is nowhere near Govinda and is unable to entice even an ounce of laughter. Digangana is unfortunately a prop to make crude jokes at and at a time where the Me Too movement is on the rise, too see such crass humour is unsettling, to say the least.

Who is getting fried on #FRYDAY ?? Bade aur Chotte ki yeh Jodi aa rahi hai #FRYDAY on Friday the 25th May ko theaters mein. #FryDay25May

We're still trying to wonder what writer Rajeev Kaul and director Abhishek Dogra were thinking while penning and directing this dud of a film. A weak storyline with punchlines such as, 'Pumps bade hai, guts nahin!" There's just two songs in this film which come during the opening and end credits and I have to say, Govinda's dancing skills are unparalleled. However, even Govinda could not save thia film which is as dull as a dry day.

In the end, you'd rather not waste your Friday and skip this FRYDAY!

We rate this film a 35 percent in the movie meter.
