Housefull 4 is the fourth installment of the Housefull franchise and just like the previous movies, it will make you question 'Why?' Why the contrived comedy? For starters, the story of the movie is weak just like Akshay Kumar's power to remember things in the film. The reincarnation themed movie is essentially marred by the outdated, illogical plot and insipid writing and dialogues. Another setback of the comic caper is the film's length. The first half is still bearable as we get to know the past of all the characters and there is some character development that takes place. However, as soon as the movie enters the second half, it not only lacks the humour throughout but also the smattering of spoofs of actors and of pop culture instead of inducing laughter will make you cringe and some may even give you headache.

The movie is packed with slapstick comedy which may make you chuckle or smile a bit but that's it. Speaking of the performances, Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Chunky Pandey and Johnny Lever fared well as the good scenes of the movie revolved around them. However, I felt that this outing did no justice to the great comic timing that they otherwise have. On the other hand, Rana Daggubati, Sharad Kelkar and Nawazuddin Siddiqui were wasted in the movie. The only saving grace of the comedy-drama was the sets and eye-pleasing locations and some brownie points can be given to the cinematography.

To return to the plot, the movie follows the lives of Harry (Akshay Kumar), Max (Bobby Deol) and Roy (Riteish Deshmukh) who live in London. The movie opens with Akshay's character who is the weirdest barber of a salon named Hulk Cuts. Later, we are introduced to his brothers, Max and Roy. They owe 5 million pounds to a don named Michael thanks to Akshay's character Harry's mistake. Their plan to get away with it is by marrying three rich girls (yes, they rolled out the safe age-old concept). Kriti Sanon, Kriti Kharbanda and Pooja Hegde fall in love with them in a song's time and decide to get married. The yawn-worthy twist unfolds during interval when Akshay decides to make his brothers and all the ladies realize how they were in love with each other's bhabhis in the past life. You will have to watch the movie to know how Akshay pulls off the same.

All in all, Housefull 4, a-so-called-tale-of-three-brothers is a potpourri of dull gags, scenic songs, inconsequential scenes with VFX and glam which provided very shallow entertainment. For me, it is has created no dhamaka this Diwali in theatres. Watch the movie only if you feel it's good enough for you.
