Priyanka Chopra Jonas has produced many critically acclaimed films in the past like Ventilator (2016), Sarvann (2017) and The Sky Is Pink (2019). She has even backed the recently released The White Tiger. In fact, Ventilator had bagged three National awards for Best Director, Best Editing and Best Sound Mixing. Now, Pinkvilla has learnt that another National Award winning film produced by the actress is gearing up to hit the theatres. Marathi film Paani directed by actor-filmmaker Addinath Kothare will be unveiled on the big screen this year.

A source close to the development informs, "Paani will release in theatres this year. It’s a very strong film and Priyanka is looking forward to releasing it soon. The makers are presently in talks with a leading studio to collaborate with them and zero in on a final date for release.” Paani had won Best Feature Film on Environment Conservation/Preservation at the 66th National Film Awards (2019). An overwhelmed Priyanka had even shared the news on Twitter stating, “Such an honour to receive the prestigious #NationalFilmAwards for #Paani (Best Film on Environment Conservation/Preservation). I cannot believe I wasn’t there to receive this! Thank u @adinathkothare for making such a wonderful movie for us & receiving the award on our behalf."

Reportedly, Paani is a real-life story and largely revolves around the male protagonist and his village Nagdarwadi, which is part of a drought prone region in Maharashtra. The film had rolled in 2018 and besides Addinath the film also features Subodh Bhave, Rajit Kapoor, Rucha Vaidya, Kishore Kadam and Girish Joshi.

Interestingly, Addinath will also be making his Bollywood debut this year with the Ranveer Singh starrer ‘83. He plays Dilip Vengsarkar in the film.

“He played a big part in our victory of the World Cup in 1983. It's been a truly life-changing experience to play his Role - Presenting the Colonel, #DilipVengsarkar! #ThisIs83,” Addinath had stated while unveiling his first look from ‘83 in January last year.
