He leads the squad named Shiva, which constitutes of the bravest police officers of different districts across India. He lives a fairly good life with his wife Avni (Kareena Kapoor Khan) who hosts Ramayana's stage plays, and his adolescent son who feels embarrassed of his parents; though he does have respect for them too. Shakti Shetty (Deepika Padukone) aka Lady Singham is incharge of her district. Satya (Tiger Shroff) and Sangram Bhalerao (Ranveer Singh) aka Simbba are incharge of theirs.

What Works for Singham Again

Singham Again's comedy salvages the film to an extent. The light moments in the second half, much thanks to the character of Simmba, give you a few reasons to laugh and chuckle. Tiger Shroff and Arjun Kapoor are presented well. There are a few action scenes in the movie that are quite eye-pleasing. They include Arjun Kapoor's introductory scene, Tiger Shroff's first couple of scenes and Ajay-Ranveer's post interval action scene.

What Doesn't Work for Singham Again

Singham Again is too bland, clichéd and outdated. While the movie already lacks novelty because of its heavy Ramayana inspiration, the writing is not able to do justice to the source material. The story of Ramayana is not interwound properly to the world of Singham. The scenes from the movie, trying to establish a link between the great epic are quite shabbily done. At times, they don't even feel like parallels. The scenes having the drama of Ramayana, which run concurrently in the screenplay, don't go well with the tone of the film since they feel more like the short morals that we get at the end of each episode of Indian soap operas.

The film's comedy, despite being the stronger part of the film, often feels out of place. We have the country's best inspectors joking with eachother for 5 minutes straight, in the battleground. The fear that viewers should feel for an extreme situation is not felt because there is absolutely no seriousness with which the rescue mission is approached. It all feels staged and forced. The background music of the film lacks adrenaline. You don't get the kind of goosebumps you wish to get from the film. The movie actually doesn't even have a proper climax. The antagonist's character is built scene by scene for what, is what you ask yourself at the end of the film.

The biggest letdown of Singham Again is the character of Singham. We no longer have the short-tempered and intimidating Singham anymore. The character now is very subtle and the mannerisms which made the character iconic are totally missing. The cameo at the end of the film is wasted.

Performances In Singham Again:

Ajay Devgn as Bajirao Singham is just fine. However, he doesn't feel like Singham anymore. Kareena Kapoor Khan as Avni doesn't get much to work with. She plays a damsel in distress. Deepika Padukone as Lady Singham feels out of place. Ranveer Singh as Simmba is perhaps the most fun part of the movie. Tiger Shroff is very well utilised. However, his comedy scenes don't land. Akshay Kumar as Sooryavanshi makes you laugh when he forgets names. Having said that, his dialogue delivery is getting weaker. Arjun Kapoor does a fairly good job but with a script as bland and clichéd as this one, there's only this much that he can do. Jacky Shroff as Omar Hafeez performs as he is required to. Other supporting actors like Shweta Tiwari, Dayanand Shetty and others are alright.

Final Verdict of Singham Again:

Singham Again is a very bland, clichéd and outdated film attempting to re-enact Ramayana.
The movie, at best can be watched for a few of its action scenes and the comedy in the second half.
